Mr. Ranga Haikali, Shareholder from Namibia, and Delegation Visit Sichuan PV and Power Enterprises to Explore Cooperation in New Energy
2024-06-17

Recently, Ms. Ester Kali, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Namibia Power Corporation (NamPower), and Mr. Christiaan Ranga Haikali, renowned Namibian entrepreneur and investor, accompanied by Mr. Liu Bin, Partner of Hechen Capital and Chairman of Chengdu Huifenghe Technology Co., Ltd., and Mr. Zhang Tang, General Manager of the company, conducted in-depth visits and exchanges with a number of photovoltaic (PV) and power enterprises in Sichuan Province. The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the new energy sector and jointly advance the global green energy transition.

During the visit, Mr. Haikali and his delegation successively visited enterprises including Tongwei Co., Ltd., Liansheng PV, and Chengshu Power Group. These enterprises represent the highest level of China’s PV industry, fully demonstrating China’s innovation strength and enormous market potential in the new energy field.

On June 5, Mr. Haikali and his delegation visited Liansheng PV. Mr. Wang Xin, Chairman of Liansheng PV, gave a detailed introduction to the Namibian guests. As an enterprise focused on the R&D and production of high-efficiency heterojunction (HJT) solar technology, Liansheng PV has won the trust of customers in the domestic market and expanded its business to major global markets including Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa, providing high-quality services to customers in many countries and regions. In terms of technological R&D, Liansheng PV, with advanced production equipment and sophisticated manufacturing techniques, has deployed leading HJT cell and module production capacity, which has continuously improved the conversion efficiency of PV modules and gradually reduced the unit power generation cost. The company has always been committed to providing customers with the most valuable photovoltaic products.

Mr. Haikali and his delegation spoke highly of Liansheng PV’s innovation history and technological layout. Located in the southwestern part of Africa, the Republic of Namibia is rich in solar energy resources and has high potential for solar power generation. In recent years, Namibia has actively promoted low-carbon energy transition and strengthened incentive policies for renewable energy. The huge green energy market potential indicates bright prospects for Chinese PV enterprises to expand locally, which is also closely linked to the urgent demand for new energy transition among countries along the “Belt and Road”.

On June 6, Mr. Haikali and his delegation visited Tongwei for a symposium and exchange. They visited the Tongwei Experience Center, learned in detail about Tongwei’s years of development and current status of its main business, highly recognized Tongwei’s concept of coordinated development of green ecology, and praised Tongwei’s continuous achievements in agriculture and PV new energy over the years.

Mr. Yan Hu, Vice Chairman of Tongwei Co., Ltd., warmly received the delegation and held talks. During the discussion, Mr. Haikali affirmed Tongwei’s comprehensive corporate strength and leading position in the industry. He noted that, facing the challenges of global climate change and growing environmental concerns, Namibia is at a critical transitional stage and needs to shift from traditional fossil fuels to cleaner and more sustainable forms of energy. Tongwei’s achievements and experience in the R&D, production and project implementation of photovoltaic technologies provide a feasible development model for Namibia. It is not only a valuable learning resource but also an important reference for achieving sustainable development, helping Namibia strike a balance in energy structure optimization, environmental protection and economic development.

Vice Chairman Yan Hu extended a warm welcome to the guests and briefly reviewed Tongwei’s development journey, starting from aquaculture, growing in agriculture and animal husbandry, and leaping forward in new energy. He stated that Namibia is actively promoting the development of renewable energy, and as a global leader in the PV industry, Tongwei has rich project experience and successful cases. It is hoped that both sides can enhance communication and exchanges, deepen mutual understanding and trust, jointly explore more cooperation opportunities, and make positive contributions to the sustainable development of Namibia and the world at large.

On June 7, Mr. Haikali and his delegation visited Chengshu Power Group for a symposium and exchange. Mr. Chen Jun, President of Chengshu Power Group, warmly received the guests and hosted the discussion.

President Chen Jun introduced the group’s business segments and strategic planning to the guests, especially its achievements in the industrial development and layout of smart grids. He stated that as a highly integrated power enterprise integrating design, construction, operation and maintenance, and diversified industrial interaction, Chengshu Power Group has always been committed to injecting vitality into urban development through new energy technologies.

Mr. Haikali fully affirmed Chengshu Power Group’s outstanding achievements in actively supporting the grid development strategy and new energy construction. He expressed the hope that Chengshu would continue to take new energy as the focus, combine Namibia’s own resource endowments, highlight its advantages, deeply promote the development of Namibia’s power grid, and contribute to the friendship between China and Namibia.

After concluding the visits to the above enterprises, Mr. Haikali expressed his vision of strengthening communication and exchanges, deepening understanding and trust with China, and jointly exploring more cooperation opportunities. This undoubtedly represents high recognition of China’s photovoltaic industry and full approval of China’s economic development model.

Several important conclusions can be drawn from this visit: First, China’s photovoltaic industry has ranked among the top in the world and become an important driving force in the global new energy sector. It has not only strongly promoted the rapid development of China’s economy, but also made outstanding contributions to the global green energy transition. Second, under the guidance of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the cooperative relations between China and African countries have become increasingly close. This win-win cooperation model is conducive to the economic prosperity and progress of both sides and helps promote the improvement and development of the global governance system. We should adopt a more open and inclusive attitude toward international cooperation, actively learn from foreign advanced technologies and management concepts, continuously enhance our core competitiveness and innovation capabilities, and further accelerate the globalization of the photovoltaic industry.
